Fear of Flying

As I gaze aimlessly over an infinite horizon before me, my mind empties and becomes one with the contrast of blue skies enveloped by a pure white misty underbelly beneath soaring skies. Flying has always been my least favourite part of my life and fills me with dread and anxiety prior to boarding. There is an aspect of myself that wishes I could snap my fingers, like Elizabeth Montgomery of the Bewitched television series and instantaneously be at my destination. And although I realize and have been told, that flying is safer than driving on a regular highway, I have a difficult time believing this as truth. The angst I feel within the pit of my gut is present every time I board a plane. One of the tools I have learned to use is 'tapping’. I have found through research and practice, that tapping, also known as the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is highly valuable. It is a thoughtful practice that involves light tapping on specific meridian points on the face, head, and body to help manage stress, anxiety, and other emotional and physical discomforts. This simple and yet effective tool has been beneficial whenever I am dealing with anxiety, stress or circumstances beyond my control. I highly recommend giving it a try and witnessing a feeling of calm and reserve.
